Welcome to Handsome Hounds and Pretty Pooches Dog Grooming Studio in Leamington Spa

Dogs groomed recently at Handsome Hounds & Pretty Pooches

The Handsome Hounds and Pretty Pooches studio is currently closed due to the national lockdown.

Please be assured every effort will be made to keep your dog safe and I hope you will do the same and keep me safe. There are changes to your grooming appointment and your cooperation is required and appreciated.

The guidelines are:

I cannot groom a dog from a household where any member is showing signs or recovering from Covid 19.

I cannot groom a dog from an owner who is shielding or self-isolating.

I cannot groom a dog if owner is unwell or if dog is unwell.

I cannot groom a dog if it has been in close contact with people or dogs from outside the family home. It is important you do not let others touch your dog or for other dogs to play with yours. This is how the virus can be spread.

The grooming appointment:

A thorough disinfection of the studio and me will be carried out in between grooms. Therefore your co-operation is needed.

Please do not walk up to the studio gate or entrance. Wait outside on path or in car if you have driven. Only when you see me please get out of car.

An arm's length hand over of dog on lead to adhere to the social distancing rule of 6 feet (two arms length). Please make sure dog is on collar and lead NO HARNESS and make sure collar is tight enough that dog cannot pull out of it. I prefer leads not extendible ones at this time if possible. I will walk straight away and talk when I am at a safe distance.

Your dog will be washed using an antibacterial shampoo (sorry there can be no exceptions to this at this time). The shampoo will kill any Covid 19 bacteria that might be on the coat but also dog friendly. If you want to use your own shampoo you will have to wash the dog at home afterwards.

I will have to wear protective clothing such as gloves, apron, mask and shield as set out by the Pet Grooming Industry. Please don't be alarmed at this. This is for my safety and it will either be thrown away or disinfected before next dog arrives.

Payment is by cash or cheque still and the correct money needs to be put in a sealed envelope with your name on it and handed to me when you drop dog off. No change will be given so please do your best to have correct money. Money from the cash points is apparently safer for you to handle than from a cashier. If paying by cheque please make out to N FARTHING. I am not accepting cards or transfers.

On handing back your dog it will be at arm's length again, your lead will be damp as it would have been disinfected. I will also give you an envelope with your next appointment card enclosed. Your next appointment might be at a slightly different time scale to what we normally do but this is because I need to stagger back out appointments in the diary. As you can imagine I have cancelled over 100 clients and I will be working extra hours and weekends to get them groomed. If the appointment is not convenient please ring to alter on my business line 01926 883553. Please do not text or message me. I will be under immense pressure so please ring me. It's quicker and dealt with.

I have always used veterinary graded disinfectants but now using DAFRA approved solutions that guarantee to kill COVID 19 bacteria so rest assured whilst your dog is with me it is safe. It will not meet any other dog whilst with me and my dogs will be kept away from yours.

The clip may be shorter than you would normally expect. This is because many will be matted or I am correcting a home groom and I am safe guiding in case there is a second wave and lockdown. But you know hair always grows back! Thank goodness.

Thank you for your patience in these unprecedented times.

Responsibly kept pets contribute to a healthy society

If you don't own the ground you have to pick up after your dog - it is the law!

Be a responsible dog owner please!

Ten minutes grooming your dog every day, regular exercise and lots of tender care will keep your dog happy and healthy

If I like it, it's mine.
If it's in my mouth, it's mine.
If I can take it from you, it's mine.
If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.
If it's mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.
If I'm chewing something up, all the pieces are mine.
If it just looks like mine, it's mine.
If I saw it first, it's mine.
If you are playing with something and you put it down, it automatically becomes mine.
If it's broken, it's yours.
